Are You Struggling With Hair Loss? This Is What I Recommend
Both men and women really do want better hair, including myself. I experienced significant hair loss about a year ago. I wasn't sure if it was from an illness, stress, or just a culmination of life. So I went on a deep dive to figure out truly what is the cause for women and men to experience the amount of hair loss that we have been seeing.
Ultimately, if you’d like to reverse your hair loss, I think it's a culmination of different products, treatments, supplements, and a mental focus that is really ultimately going to change how your hair exists and how it grows back.
There is a huge financial commitment when you're looking at hair restoration and regrowing or attempting to get your hair back. I'm still on that journey and I will probably forever be on that journey. On my journey, one of the things that I discovered is that it is not the high DHT levels that we've been led to believe that causes hair loss.
What I've been integrating with my patients has been a lot of research and a lot of treatment options that have been successful in helping to stimulate hair growth and to keep the existing hair that we have. Some of the things that have an impact on changing your hair is looking at your vitamin levels or micronutrient levels and seeing what specific deficiencies you have. I will tell you that it is not common to experience biotin deficiencies when people are experiencing hair loss. So B vitamins and biotin supplementation has not been proven successful in my practice to have an impact on your hair.
What has been impactful is a specific peptide called GHKCU. It's a copper peptide when injected subcutaneously into the scalp that can increase the amount of new hair follicles that develop and grow hair. I personally have experienced great results with this peptide and it is one of the mainstays of treatments that I recommend if someone has been experiencing hair loss or a change in the hair growth.
The second thing that I found effective is doing anything that's going to stimulate blood flow to your scalp.
We originally thought it was just a hormone problem or high levels of DHT but now we know it's a lack of blood flow to the scalp. It's almost a free tool, but scalp massage is going to have a profound impact on helping your hair to come back, grow and keep the existing hair follicle in place. I recommend getting a gua sha tool for your scalp, a red light helmet or using a simple massage technique with your hands. This has been proven much more effective than other courses of treatment like topical minoxidil and other oral prescription medications that have a ton of downside effects including sexual dysfunction.
The third thing that I highly recommend is a supplement or an IV infusion called proline. Proline is an amino acid that is the precursor to collagen and elastin production in the body. It's been studied for joint repair but most recently it's been found in research for hair growth and hair stimulation. I recommend this treatment intravenously or subcutaneously or intramuscularly to have a higher potency and higher effectiveness. I don't routinely recommend this supplement orally due to the difficulties digesting and absorbing the product.
The last thing, probably the hardest thing that I recommend is to stop analyzing and staring at your hair. Hair grows very slowly so the more we concentrate and focus on our hair loss or our hair growth the less likely it's going to come back. So if possible, try to forget about it.
Implement these routines and products and you will see a change in your hair.
